More About Kristina Works

Kristina is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in the treatment of adolescents and adults coping with OCD and trauma.

She earned her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Metropolitan State University of Denver. Kristina is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD treatment through the Modern Therapist Training Collective and under the direct supervision of Carla D’Agostino-Vigil, Clinical Director at Ignite Counseling.

Additionally, she has received training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Synergetic Play Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT). Kristina will begin Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training in mid-February 2025.

Before joining Ignite Counseling, Kristina gained extensive experience working with children and families. Her prior roles included supervising visitations, providing parent coaching and therapy, delivering trauma-informed counseling to children in the foster care system, and enhancing emotional regulation through play therapy techniques.

Kristina is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for her clients, fostering authenticity, empathy, and non-judgmental curiosity. She believes in building strong connections through humor and a lighthearted approach when appropriate. Her passion lies in helping clients enhance self-worth, develop emotional regulation and coping strategies, and cultivate a deep sense of internal safety.

Outside of her professional life, Kristina enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, one dog, and two cats. She is an avid skier in the winter, enjoys hiking in the summer, and loves attending comedy shows and concerts year-round. She also enjoys watching television series, reading a good book, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Her and her husband are currently connecting through the challenge of DIY remodeling their home together.
