Educational Background:
Natalie Melka received her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University. Throughout her time at Regis University, Natalie was dedicated to the mission of promoting positive change and well-being in our communities.
Natalie received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and majored in psychology. Natalie graduated with distinction and focused heavily on women’s mental health, the neurobiology of trauma, and treatment modalities for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Approach to Counseling:
Natalie is passionate about providing trauma-informed and client-centered counseling services. Her therapeutic approach fosters a collaborative relationship grounded in vulnerability, curiosity, and trust.
Natalie Melka is EMDR-trained and receives consultation from a certified EMDR-consultant. Her approach to treating trauma is intersectional in nature which means recognizing the role of personal and social contexts, including race, gender, and sexual orientation, in the experience of trauma. She enjoys utilizing Internal Family Systems (IFS) to support clients as they navigate through trauma memories as this modality creates a safe and compassionate space for healing and self-discovery of all parts.
Additionally, Natalie Melka is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy for the Treatment of OCD and OCD-Related Disorders, including phobias. She utilizes Trauma-Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), emphasizing present-moment awareness, emotional regulation, and mindfulness, to support those experiencing OCD, mood and anxiety disorders, chronic pain and illness, and those experiencing life transitions.
Outside of her professional life, Natalie enjoys exploring antique stores in search of vintage glassware and unique earrings. She values quality time with her family and cherishes the company of her poodle companion, Poe.
